Annapurna promises commission model, brings four films

Annapurna Studios says it is expanding theatrical distribution across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with I’m Game, Sardar 2, EPIC – First Semester and Ramba Oorvasi Menaka in its September slate.
The studio said its distribution initiative would bring films to theatres while helping “revive a commission-based distribution model” and build a “transparent and sustainable distribution ecosystem”. Supriya Yarlagadda, Annapurna’s executive director, said the initiative would focus on films the studio believes deserve a big-screen release.
Nagarjuna Akkineni earlier said Annapurna had already begun work in the Nizam territory and was “going successfully”. No revenue, screen-count, settlement or market-share data has been published to show what that means. Annapurna’s exact commercial role in each title—distributor, sub-distributor, presenter or territory partner—also remains unclear.
I’m Game was reported for a September 3 release in five languages, while Sardar 2 was scheduled for September 10. The release status of EPIC – First Semester in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has not been established.
