Annapurna widens Telugu slate, keeps terms backstage
The Hyderabad studio has linked itself to three releases, but the territory, deal structure and one release date remain undisclosed.
Annapurna Studios has announced three Telugu-market releases while leaving key distribution terms undisclosed.
Annapurna Studios is expanding its Telugu-market theatrical distribution activity with Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game, Karthi’s Sardar 2 and EPIC – First Semester in its announced slate. The studio says the initiative will take films to audiences across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and build a “transparent and sustainable distribution ecosystem”. The ecosystem, for now, comes without a published price tag.
Reports identify Annapurna as handling I’m Game in Telugu, with the film released on September 3, and Sardar 2, scheduled for September 10. EPIC – First Semester is also listed, but its confirmed theatrical date has not been published in the material reviewed. IMDb’s company-credit listing separately records Annapurna for India theatrical distribution of I’m Game.
The studio has not publicly disclosed whether it bought rights, is working on commission, or is providing distribution services. The exact territory for each film, screen count, commercial terms and any all-India role are also unclear. Annapurna’s stated ambition is wider Telugu distribution; the “pan-Indian footprint” can wait for paperwork.
