Batwara 1947 drops, August 14 date set

Batwara 1947 is slated for worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.

The official trailer for Batwara 1947 is out, with Aamir Khan Productions dating the Rajkumar Santoshi film for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026. Multiple outlets list the cut as the “official trailer” and carry the same date. According to the production-linked listing, A.R. Rahman scores and Javed Akhtar writes the lyrics.

Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi and Preity G. Zinta lead the cast, alongside Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh, Khhushi Hajare and Kanikka Kapur. The credits name Santoshi for direction and screenplay, and Santoshi with Asghar Wajahat for dialogues. The trailer copy sticks to one line: “When batwara drew lines between people, he chose courage over fear.”

It is a Hindi release presented as “worldwide”. No Telugu dub has been announced in the material reviewed, no screen count is listed, and a CBFC record located is for a teaser, not the feature. Which is to say: save the box-office prophecy for the parties that prefer slogans to facts. Telangana audiences will judge the film when it reaches a Hyderabad screen; the Congress and BJP can keep arguing with history, but the release date is not taking their calls.
