DoorDash brings 3,000-job plan to Hyderabad
The new HITEC City hub starts with about 500 employees and will support DoorDash’s global operations. The jobs are planned, not already delivered; even corporate arithmetic has limits.
DoorDash’s Hyderabad hub will begin with about 500 employees, with expansion planned over the next two years.
DoorDash opened a new Hyderabad hub on September 30, starting with about 500 employees and planning to grow beyond 3,000 over the next two years, according to published reports citing the company. The facility is in HITEC City and will support the company’s global operations.
The hub will initially house Customer Experience and Integrity teams, along with general and administrative functions. Its work will cover consumers, merchants and delivery workers across DoorDash’s markets. Hyderabad is also described as the company’s third owned CXI hub globally, after facilities in Tempe and Mexico City.
Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said DoorDash’s choice of Hyderabad validated the city’s position as a global talent hub. That is a ministerial assessment, not an independent measurement, but the headcount plan is substantial enough without extra decoration.
Reports call it DoorDash’s first India office. That needs qualification: DoorDash is also reported to have a Pune technology presence linked to its 2021 acquisition of Chowbotics. Hyderabad is best described, for now, as its first newly established India hub under the current structure. The proposed 3,000-plus headcount is a target, not 3,000 jobs already created. Hyderabad gets the investment; the paperwork can catch up later.
