Agriculture officials in Vikarabad reportedly found DAP samples from Yalal and Parigi to be counterfeit, with the police-sent lab reports identifying clay pellets coated with nitrogen and phosphorus, according to a local report dated August 11. Results for Pudur and Bantwaram were still awaited at the time. No laboratory name, report number or quantities seized were published.
The seizures spanned four mandals — Pudur, Parigi, Bantwaram and Yalal — and samples were sent to a lab, the report says. It does not supply a seizure date, batch details, the FIR number or the names of the officers involved. It also says police registered a case and remanded one dealer and a transporter, and that criticism has followed for not pursuing who is behind the racket — an allegation made without a police response on record.
For farmers, what matters is whether any of this reached their fields and who is accountable up the chain. Those answers aren’t in the public record yet. Telangana’s interest is simple: clean inputs, quick action, and a paper trail the public can check. The BJP-led Centre’s fertiliser regime loves slogans about transparency; the transparency part can start with the lab name and the FIR number.
