GV Narayana Rao dies at 73

Telugu actor and producer GV Narayana Rao died in Hyderabad on Wednesday, August 26, at the age of 73, according to a condolence message from the Telugu Film Producers Council. The Movie Artistes’ Association also announced his death, Cinema Express reported.

Narayana Rao made his screen debut in K. Balachander’s 1976 film Anthuleni Katha. Reports say he later received the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film. He went on to act in around 100 films and appeared in television serials including Pasupu Kumkuma and Sundarakanda. He was also identified as a producer of films including Chiranjeevi-starrers Devanthakudu and Yamudiki Mogudu.

Actor Karate Kalyani told PTI that Narayana Rao died after a heart attack. That cause has not been independently confirmed by a medical or family statement. His funeral was scheduled for August 28 at Vaikunta Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Hyderabad.
