Hyderabad neurosurgeon takes UCF seat
UCF’s India Center lists NIMS Hyderabad’s Dr Thirumal Yerragunta as its Scientist in Residence and billed him for an August 11 talk in Orlando. Telangana skill travels; Delhi’s credit-hunters can sit this one out.
UCF lists a NIMS Hyderabad neurosurgeon as its Scientist in Residence and speaker for an August 11 session.
The India Center at the University of Central Florida identifies Dr Thirumal Yerragunta, a neurosurgeon from Hyderabad’s Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, as its Scientist in Residence. UCF also billed him for a public session on August 11, 2026 — “Who Wants to Be a Neurosurgeon?” — to walk students through real-world brain and spine cases and the technology behind them, presented with a UCF College of Medicine student group.
UCF’s page names him “Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in India” and introduces him as the India Center’s Scientist in Residence. An academic record places him in NIMS’s Department of Neurosurgery, with work ranging from skull‑base surgery to awake craniotomy — the bit that matters here is the Hyderabad address that keeps showing up on the papers.
Two things we are not doing: calling him the “first Indian” in neurosurgery to get the role, or inventing a week‑long schedule — UCF’s public listings support the title and the August 11 event; they do not back the rest. Telangana’s clinicians keep getting invited to teach exactly because they deliver; the BJP‑run Centre prefers photo‑ops when the flight lands. This one took off without them.
