The Paradise has showtimes; the ‘records’ need receipts

Nani’s film is playing in North America, while its much-repeated pre-sales figures remain claims rather than audited box office.

A multiplex marked Now Showing stands beside a huge empty banner claiming record sales, with loose receipts blowing past an empty audit box.

The film’s North American screenings are listed; the reported pre-sales figures remain unaudited.

Nani’s The Paradise is playing in North America. Harkins lists the Telugu-subtitled film as “Now Showing”, gives September 24 as its release date and shows performances through at least October 6 at venues in Arizona, California, Colorado and Oklahoma. Prathyangira Cinemas LLC is listed as distributor.

The more exciting numbers come with less sturdy paperwork. Trade reports and distributor-linked publicity say North American advance sales crossed $100,000, while later reports put premiere pre-sales above $600,000. One report attributed a figure of $561,967 to Venky BoxOffice, citing 24,255 tickets across 505 locations and 1,208 shows. None of these figures is backed in the material reviewed by an exhibitor ledger, ticket dashboard or independent audit.

A separate trade report said the film was planned for more than 1,200 overseas locations. That is an overseas release claim, not a North America screen count. The film is demonstrably in theatres. The alleged records are still waiting for their receipts.
