Hyderabad patents rocket fuel; launch date remains classified

A University of Hyderabad research centre has secured an Indian patent for BAM-H24, an energetic compound proposed for use in solid rocket propellants. The university says Patent No. 599900 was granted on August 20, 2026, to the DRDO chairman and ACRHEM at UoH. The application was filed under No. 202211074244.
The university describes BAM-H24 as boron-, hydrogen- and nitrogen-rich, with strong chemical and thermal stability, resistance to impact and friction, and non-hygroscopic properties. It says the compound is expected to offer high specific impulse and reduced ignition delay, and could be used as a propellant, fuel additive or burn-rate accelerator.
That is the documented position. No public specific-impulse figure, ignition-delay measurement, motor test, static firing, flight test or deployment in a missile or launch vehicle was available in the sources reviewed. The annual-report record confirms the earlier patent application; it gives the filing date as December 22, 2022, while the later university release says December 21. The rocket has a patent. The launch, for now, is still a proposal.
