A Hyderabad-linked software engineer travelling in connection with a Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage has been reported out of contact after floods near the Nepal–Tibet border. Suhasini Reddy Kandimalla’s family lost contact with her, though published accounts differ on whether they last spoke on August 25, 26 or 27. The facts, for once, have not travelled in one neat convoy.
Her brother, identified in reports as Lohit or Lohith Kumar, said she travelled from Hyderabad to Delhi and then Kathmandu after attending a housewarming ceremony. India Today reported that she was travelling with a pilgrimage group. Her name also appears on a privately compiled missing-person list, which warns that entries remain subject to verification and do not establish injury or death.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed the wider emergency, saying 288 Indian nationals remained out of contact and 21 had been rescued. That statement did not name Suhasini. No public police, embassy or government case reference confirming her individual status has been found. The official record, like the weather, remains inconveniently unfinished.
