IFFI 2026 window opens. Telugu, step in
Entries are open for IFFI’s 57th edition in November 2026. Telugu films and OTT series qualify on the rules; selection is earned, not promised.

NFDC under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has opened entries for the 57th International Film Festival of India, scheduled in Goa from November 20–28, 2026. The Government of Goa and the Entertainment Society of Goa are listed as partners, and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is Festival Director. According to the festival’s rules, “The 57th edition of IFFI will be held from November 20th - 28th, 2026 in Goa, India.”
What’s in for Indian makers: Indian Panorama, the Best Debut Director of an Indian Feature Film Award, and the Best Web Series (OTT) Award. International sections include the Main International Competition, a Best Debut Feature competition, and the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal. Indian films apply through Indian Panorama; international entries go via FilmFreeway.
For Indian Panorama 2026, online applications close August 10, 2026, 6 p.m., with hard copies due August 17, 6 p.m. Fees: ₹11,800 for features and ₹3,540 for non-features (GST included). Films must be in “any Indian language” with English subtitles; eligibility is completion between August 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026, with Indian director and production as specified. The PIB says Indian Panorama will feature 25 feature films and 20 non-features. OTT entries for the Best Web Series award must be original OTT releases with all episodes out between August 1, 2025 and July 31, 2026; the award is meant to encourage “OTT content in Indian languages.”
What this means for Telugu: you qualify on the rules — films in an Indian language are eligible, and regional-language OTT is explicitly invited. Selection is not guaranteed; entry is the door. If selected, Indian Panorama’s stated purpose includes promoting films at “International Film Festivals in India and abroad,” which is an institutional pathway, not a promise of buyers or distribution.
What’s not on the record yet: no shortlist, no jury list, no counts of entries received, no language-wise quotas, and no publication date for selections.
The BJP-led Centre runs the festival machinery; it has finally done the routine bit — open the window. The rest, as usual, rests on filmmakers from states like Telangana to do the heavy lifting while Delhi takes the credits reel.
