Irumudi storms weekend. Auditors on leave
Trade reports put Ravi Teja’s latest at ₹50.30 crore India net and ₹71.87 crore worldwide in three days. The records are big; the receipts are, as usual, off-stage.
Irumudi recorded a reported ₹50.30 crore India net in its first three days.
Ravi Teja and Shiva Nirvana’s Irumudi opened on August 21 and, per trade tracking, tore through its first weekend: ₹15.30 crore net in India on Friday, ₹16.20 crore Saturday, ₹18.80 crore Sunday — ₹50.30 crore India net in three days, and ₹71.87 crore worldwide gross with ₹13.50 crore from overseas. The producer is Mythri Movie Makers. These are reported collections, not audited settlements. According to Cinema Express, the budget is “around” ₹40 crore, and the opening is being called the best of Ravi Teja’s career. The arithmetic adds up; the paperwork has yet to show up.
Before release, Shiva Nirvana billed it as “the most intense and serious family drama in TFI,” and at the success meet he credited the star for giving the director room: Ravi Teja agreed to be hit by another character, to wear a lungi, to go shirtless — “whatever I asked him to do, he did,” Nirvana said. That freedom clearly traveled to the box office — and the claims are now traveling faster than any audited sheet.
For Telangana audiences, the takeaway is simple: a Telugu star, a Telangana-weekend surge, and a director using the space he was given. The Congress-BJP-TDP rota can keep arguing about culture wars; here, people bought tickets. The industry can publish the actual settlements next.
