Irumudi’s US count: pick a number

Sacnilk tracks $129,477 from 251 locations; the distributor said $125K, then $175K. The arithmetic moves; the audit doesn’t.

Irumudi’s overseas collection figures remain unreconciled.

Ravi Teja’s Irumudi opened North American premieres on August 20, and the numbers already don’t agree with each other — which, in Indian trade coverage, is the only reliable constant.

According to Sacnilk’s August 20 tracking, the USA premiere advance sales stood at $129,477 from 251 locations and 561 shows, with 9,085 tickets and 18% occupancy. It even lists Texas at $39,797 and AMC Stonebriar 24 at $8,717 — still Sacnilk’s own scrape, not an exhibitor sheet or a distributor filing.

The film’s North American distributor, Prathyangira Cinemas, meanwhile promoted “NORTH AMERICA PRE-SALES $125K and Counting,” then upped it to “$175K and Counting,” and separately claimed 5,000+ tickets. Trade reports piled on with $150K, then $225K, then $275K in North America and $375K overseas — none with an auditable dataset or cut-off time. Sacnilk also floats a ₹4 crore overseas rights tag and a $1 million overseas break-even, with $750,000 from North America, without naming a source. Those are estimates, not contract terms.

The only date that is settled is the release: BookMyShow lists August 21, 2026 in India, with August 20 North American premieres ahead of it. Everything else is claimed, changing and unreconciled. The national parties’ favourite sport is inflating credit; the film trade learned from the best.
