JioHotstar launched in the UK, Canada and Singapore on September 2, giving Indian entertainment a new overseas storefront — and giving Telugu-speaking viewers a catalogue they will have to discover by trial and error.
JioStar says the service carries more than 160,000 hours of content across 12-plus languages, including television, films, regional programming, children’s content and anime. It says the platform is designed for the South Asian diaspora as well as wider audiences interested in Indian languages and cultures.
The company has not published a market-by-market Telugu catalogue. It has not confirmed the number of Telugu titles, or whether Telugu audio, subtitles or dubbing are available in all three countries. That makes the expansion relevant to Telugu audiences, but not yet a confirmed Telugu-content launch.
Quarterly plans cost £19.99 in the UK, C$19.99 in Canada and S$29.98 in Singapore. JioStar also says it plans to add more than 30,000 hours of fresh content each year. The catalogue claim is company-provided, not independently audited. The app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, according to JioStar.
