Jurala canals on, figures still hush
A local report says Jurala opened its canals and lifts on July 29 with cusec counts for each scheme. The Congress government in Telangana has yet to publish the order, the log, or even the day’s storage — but it did find 27,199 cusecs to push downstream for power.

Water was released on Wednesday into Jurala’s left and right canals and multiple lift-irrigation schemes in Palamuru, according to a Gadwal-datelined report. The piece lists inflow at 21,000 cusecs, and allocations as: Nettempad 1,500 cusecs, Bhima Lift‑1 1,300, Bhima Lift‑2 750, Koilsagar 630, Jurala Left Canal 1,030, Right Canal 500 and the parallel canal 600. It also says 27,199 cusecs was being sent downstream for power generation.
That is a useful day for fields that have been waiting. It is also, so far, a day known only from one report. The irrigation department has not published a release order, a reservoir level, a live-storage figure, or a control‑room log for July 29 to match those numbers. The official KRMB project page confirms Jurala’s role and its canals and lifts; it does not confirm this release.
Two facts a Telangana farmer will notice: the listed downstream discharge exceeds the stated inflow, and nobody in the Congress government has bothered to explain whether those figures refer to different hours, or if stored water made up the gap. If the plan is to keep canals wet and answers dry, say that aloud. The BJP can spare the sermons — fields don’t drink press notes, they drink cusecs.
