Kaleshwaram pumps reportedly return; logs remain absent

Kaleshwaram motors reportedly resumed pumping on September 26, with about 6,400 cusecs directed to Annapurna reservoir and nearly 3,300 cusecs to Sri Ranganayaka Sagar, according to a published report. The figures add up to roughly 9,700 cusecs, but no publicly accessible irrigation department log or official statement confirming them was found.
The report said two pumps were used at Annapurna and one at Ranganayaka Sagar. It placed Annapurna’s storage at 1.6 TMC ft against a reported capacity of 3.5 TMC ft. The restart came after BRS leader T. Harish Rao urged Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to act; the report establishes sequence, not that the letter caused the operation. The Congress government in Telangana has not bothered to publish the pump-house record or answer that basic question.
The route itself is not mysterious. The Telangana Irrigation Department’s Kaleshwaram project document lists Ananthagiri and Sri Ranganayaka Sagar among the reservoirs served by Link IV. The missing piece is the September 26 record. For a project built around moving water, the government appears less enthusiastic about moving data.
