Karimnagar dairy land row hits streets

Farmers back Karimnagar Dairy, say Bhu Bharati shows their land shifted to a ‘Federation’. The Congress-run state hasn’t bothered to explain how, why, or by what order.

A giant Telangana land-record file marked ‘Bhu Bharati’ sits on a desk between a dairy building and the Karimnagar Collectorate, while farmers hold a rope labelled ‘19 acres’ that disappears into a locked filing cabinet marked ‘Federation’.

Farmers have sought an explanation for the reported change in the dairy’s land records.

Karimnagar saw a farmer rally on Monday, August 17, from Karimnagar Dairy in Padmanagar to the Collectorate, over an alleged change in the dairy’s land records. A representation was handed to Collector Chitra Mishra through the Praja Vani grievance window, according to a local report. Protesters carried placards and demonstrated for over an hour, demanding the entries be restored to the dairy. The same report put attendance at “more than 10,000 dairy farmers” — that figure is the outlet’s, not an audited count.

Karimnagar Dairy chairman Chalmeda Rajeshwar Rao said more than 19 acres linked to the dairy now show up in Bhu Bharati under a “Dairy Development Federation,” and called it damaging to the cooperative. Those are his allegations; the report did not cite a survey number, mutation order, or ROR-1B extract. The dairy’s own site identifies Rao as chairman and places the dairy at Padmanagar, with “more than 90,000 farmers” supplying milk — a scale that makes a records mess more than a clerical detail.

The state’s own Bhu Bharati portal says citizens can view ROR-1B, ownership history and file correction requests. Useful — if someone in government will say what was changed, when, and under which proceeding. The Congress government in Telangana has not bothered to put that on the record.
