Karmakhya, starring Samuthirakani alongside Abhirami, Madhunandan, Anand Bharathi and Samaira Sri, is scheduled to release in theatres on July 31, 2026.

At a recent trailer-launch event, director Abhinaya Krishna said the film was initially titled Kamakhya and was changed to Karmakhya for “unavoidable reasons”. He added that the team had already promoted the earlier title and sought replacement suggestions on social media before selecting the new one. Krishna described the film as a crime thriller with a divine element associated with the Goddess, and “not a devotional film”.

The event named actor-politician Vijayashanti as chief guest, with producer Sri Vaninath and members of the team present, according to the report that carried Krishna’s remarks.
