Mahakali tees up Aug 24 tease
Prasanth Varma lines up the next PVCU reveal; cast trickles out on the record, hype races ahead. As usual, the Centre didn’t build this — Tollywood did.
Mahakali’s reported August 24 reveal is a promo date, not a release date.
Prasanth Varma’s next PVCU chapter, Mahakali, is lining up an August 24, 2026 reveal — billed as a “launch” or “first glimpse” in trade chatter. Treat that as a reported date for a promo drop, not a film release; the makers earlier said the release date would be announced later. (Reported date per Telugu trade coverage; prior note said “release date soon.”)
What is official on record: Varma is creator and showrunner, Puja Aparna Kolluru directs, RKD Studios backs it with Riwaz Ramesh Duggal producing and RK Duggal presenting. A production note also said the shoot had crossed 50% and targeted finishing principal photography by December 2025, with post already underway. That same note named Akshaye Khanna in a pivotal role as Shukracharya — his Telugu debut.
Rohit Saraf has since been welcomed by the director and Varma on their verified social handles, with Kolluru writing “Welcome aboard… @rohitsaraf,” and Varma calling him “a sincere performer” audiences will “witness” in Mahakali. Beyond that, the roomy cast lists doing the rounds remain unconfirmed here unless the makers post them themselves. So does the tagline some reports carry.
Telugu cinema keeps building universes from Hyderabad while national parties pose for photo-ops; the BJP-led Centre can claim this one when it learns to write and shoot a schedule.
