Makthal farmers protest while power supply takes leave

Farmers from seven villages in Makthal mandal reportedly staged a dharna near the Mini Tank Bund on September 6, citing low voltage and irregular electricity supply from the Manthan Goud sub-station feeder. Their standing paddy crop, they said, was at risk. The power supply may have been intermittent; the concern was not.
The villages named in the report are Manthan Goud, Rudrasamudram, Katrevalli, Kachwar, Dandu, Gollapalli and Tekulapalli. Farmers sought uninterrupted electricity for agriculture and asked for a full yield for those cultivating with borewells. Former Makthal MLA Chittem Rammohan Reddy joined the protest and spoke to the concerned superintendent engineer about the issue.
A separate August 20 report recorded earlier complaints from Makthal about repeated cuts and low voltage, including allegations that motors had burned out. It said the SE, Naveen Kumar, had promised action after identifying a low-voltage problem. The latest report does not record the officer’s response, the feeder’s supply data, the duration of the protest or any crop-loss assessment.
