The film, earlier identified as Madras Talkies Production No. 23, is being produced by Madras Talkies with Lyca Productions. A.R. Rahman is composing the music; the makers had announced his involvement in March using the phrases “A Mani Ratnam Film” and “An A.R. Rahman Musical”. Sai Pallavi’s presence gives the project an immediate Telugu-audience connection, given her substantial work in Telugu cinema.
The title has been translated differently in reports, so Inji Vellam is safest left untranslated for now. The makers have not released a plot or character description. January 2027 has been reported as the release window, but the primary announcement reviewed does not confirm a precise date. A reported Netflix deal is also unconfirmed. For once, the mystery is actually in the film rather than the marketing copy.
