Mirzapur opens at ₹25 crore; Telugu gets crumbs
Trade estimates put the Hindi-led film’s India opening between ₹24.75 crore and ₹25.50 crore. Its Telugu version is estimated at ₹15–25 lakh.
Mirzapur: The Movie released in Hindi and Telugu on September 4.
Entertainment has discovered another language: trade estimates. Mirzapur: The Movie, released in Hindi and Telugu on September 4, opened at between roughly ₹24.75 crore and ₹25.50 crore net in India, according to figures reported by Box Office India, The Week and NDTV citing Sacnilk.
The Telugu contribution was much smaller. Box Office India estimated around ₹25 lakh net from what it called a limited release; NDTV, citing Sacnilk, put it at approximately ₹15 lakh. No official producer, distributor or exhibitor filing has published an audited figure, so these remain estimates rather than scripture carved into a multiplex wall.
Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment presented the film, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna. The opening tests whether a streaming franchise can travel to theatres. The Telugu version, on the evidence available, has travelled with considerably lighter luggage.
