The ₹99 National Cinema Day offer awaits a confirmed date and terms.
A July 27 report says multiplexes will mark National Cinema Day with ₹99 tickets, more than 4,000 screens, and a mix of re-releases, ‘timeless classics’, new releases and current hits — attributed to Kamal Gianchandani, president of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI). It also prints an MAI-flavoured thank-you note to moviegoers. According to that page, the date is September 20. It also says ‘this Friday’. September 20, 2026 is a Sunday.
Two things are solid on record — ₹75 was the launch promo back in 2022, and ‘4,000+ screens’ has been the talking point since then. What’s missing for 2026 is a primary MAI notice with the date, the ₹99 base price, who’s in across Telangana (Hyderabad multiplexes, single screens), and whether premium formats sit out or get their own price tag.
So yes, cheap tickets are coming — if this report holds. Until MAI actually posts the terms, plan for ₹99 and be ready for a convenience-fee plot twist. Congress and BJP leaders will still find a way to take credit for cinema crowds they had nothing to do with; the only line they queued for was the selfie.
