A Gazette notification declares the Mulugu temple a monument of national importance. What happens on the ground is still pending.

Gollala Gudi at Palampet in Mulugu district has been formally declared a monument of national importance by the Central Government under Section 4(3) of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958. The declaration appears in Gazette notification S.O. 4802(E), dated August 31, 2026 and published on September 1.
The notification covers 0.25 acre in Survey No. 417/3 (Part) and lists the Archaeological Survey of India as the owner. It also records that the government’s earlier two-month notice, issued on March 6, drew no public objections. The legal box is now ticked, in the precise manner governments prefer.
Gollala Gudi is in the same Palampet village as the UNESCO-listed Kakatiya Rudreshwara, or Ramappa Temple, according to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The Gazette does not specify conservation funding, restoration work, visitor facilities, staffing or a timetable. Those details remain unpublished. A national-status notification is confirmed; the promised next chapter is not.
