An inspection at Sai Ganesh Rice Mill in Pebberu found 4,946.080 tonnes of paddy from the 2022–23 Yasangi CMR cycle “missing”, district civil‑supplies officer Anjaneyulu said, with officials pegging the value at Rs 18,35,83,057, according to a local report that quoted him on record. The report says vigilance and civil‑supplies teams conducted the check on Monday, August 24, and concluded the grain had been diverted — the official phrase was “found to have been diverted.”
That is the on‑record claim from the district officer. The underlying paperwork — inspection memo, stock register reconciliation, seizure or recovery orders, FIR — has not been published. In the same area earlier this month, officials reported 4,021 tonnes unaccounted at a different Pebberu mill, with a police complaint filed there, indicating wider CMR verification in Wanaparthy.
For Telangana’s farmers and ration card holders, unaccounted CMR is not an accounting glitch — it is public grain promised back as rice. The BJP‑led Centre’s fondness for compliance lectures won’t feed a single PDS family if mill stocks go walkabout; the Congress’s national chest‑thumping about welfare won’t either. Publish the documents, name the recoveries, and finish the job. Empty slogans don’t mill rice.
