Premalu vanishes, Hyderabad stays
As the Hindi remake rolls out its teaser, reports say the Malayalam original briefly “disappeared” from JioHotstar. The Telugu dub on Aha — the Hyderabad chapter — stayed put.
The Telugu dub continues to stream on Aha as reports point to the original’s temporary unavailability elsewhere.
Prem Keetanu, the official Hindi take on Girish AD’s Premalu, dropped its teaser on 17 August and heads for a 2 October release. The film is directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, produced by Gaurav Verma (Avanika Films), and is presented with Bhavana Studios and Phars Films. The makers say it keeps the heart while changing the setup; the teaser plays it as a campus story rather than young Malayalis moving to Hyderabad for work. According to a report, Premalu was “no longer available” on JioHotstar around the same time in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi — while the Telugu dub remained on Aha. Another report echoed the disappearance and reproduced fan posts questioning the timing. A Malayalam outlet framed it as a pause “until the release” of the remake. None of that is a platform statement. JioHotstar has not publicly explained the reported unavailability, and the producers haven’t either. The original’s Hyderabad arc still streams in Telugu — local flavour surviving the national remake cycle is on-brand for this industry.
