Revanth’s Miyapur victory began in 1912
The Supreme Court confirmed Telangana’s title over 550 acres. The litigation did not begin in the Congress government’s press office.
The Miyapur title followed a legal trail that predates the current government.
The Supreme Court has confirmed Telangana’s title over 550 acres and 39 guntas in Miyapur. The land dispute began in 1912, passed through Special Court proceedings in the 1990s and an Andhra Pradesh High Court judgment on April 16, 2003, before reaching the latest ruling. Revanth Reddy’s government arrived at the final chapter. It did not write the book.
In Bandari Ramchander v. Maitri Cooperative Housing Society, the court dismissed the private appellants’ appeals and found no reason to interfere with the High Court’s finding that the State was the rightful owner. The judgment records that Survey Nos. 100 and 101 had been classified as “Sarkari poramboke” in 1912. It calls the case “a clear-cut” attempt to grab valuable State land. That is a victory for Telangana’s public title, not a finding that the Congress government created or independently secured the legal claim.
Revanth has used the ruling to claim that his government protected land worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore and to accuse KCR, Damodar Rao and Goldstone Prasad of trying to grab Miyapur land through revenue manipulation and pressure on officials. Those are the Chief Minister’s allegations; the Supreme Court judgment does not attribute the conduct to them. The government has also discussed auctioning or monetising the land, but no final auction notification or Cabinet decision appears in the material reviewed.
Harish Rao says the BRS government engaged senior counsel C.S. Vaidyanathan and pursued the matter from 2015 to 2023. Published accounts differ on whether that engagement began in 2015 or 2017. The sensible conclusion is less flattering to the current government’s theatrical version: Telangana won a long legal fight, and Revanth is trying to invoice the public for authorship. The Congress government should publish the filings, appointment records and its precise contribution instead of turning a 2003 judgment into a 2026 campaign prop.
