Three cases have been reported in Telangana after alleged turmeric-water and milk sprinkling on roads used by Dalit Congress protesters near K Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse at Erravelli. The ritual, if the complaints are proved, appears to have brought an old social prejudice into a new political procession.

According to police accounts reported by The Indian Express, complaints were registered at Markook police station under provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the Protection of Civil Rights Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The complaints name several alleged BRS supporters, including local leaders. Police reportedly collected turmeric, soil samples and CCTV footage. No arrests had been reported in these cases as of the cited September 11 report.

The BRS has filed a counter-complaint alleging that images circulated by Congress leaders were misleading and AI-generated. K T Rama Rao also warned of legal action. No technical report or independent verification establishing that claim was found. The police cases are registered; the investigation is not finished. Congress brought a protest to Erravelli, and the alleged response now sits in three police files. The BJP and TDP need not send advice on social justice until they locate their own filing cabinets.
