Pa. Ranjith’s film will release its first glimpse on September 18 at noon. For now, the poster is doing most of the talking.

A dramatic film poster outside a cinema shows performers arranged vertically around a tall wooden pole, with blurred filmgoers in the foreground.

The poster for Vettuvam foregrounds a Mallakhamba-style formation while the film’s plot remains undisclosed.

Pa. Ranjith’s Vettuvam will release its first glimpse on September 18 at noon, with the film’s production banner Neelam Productions announcing the update on September 17. The announcement promises “a world beyond all we’ve known” and “a world unlike any other”. Cinema, having run out of ordinary adjectives, appears to have moved on to alternate worlds.

The announcement tags Arya, V. R. Dinesh Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kalaiyarasan, Mime Gopi and Guru Somasundaram, among others. A poster shows performers on a vertical pole, which multiple reports identify as Mallakhamba. The makers have not confirmed whether the traditional sport is part of the plot or simply the poster’s visual language.

The film is being described in reports as Ranjith’s first project planned for a pan-India release, with a five-language plan also reported but not confirmed in the official announcement. Its plot, setting, characters, release date and format remain undisclosed. The project was first reported as announced at Cannes in 2022; the September 18 video is expected to offer the first detailed look at its world.
