Kiku Chiranjeevi Puts Pulse Back Into the Thriller
A modestly made survival thriller that turns an unusual premise into a surprisingly gripping theatrical experience.

Kiku Chiranjeevi arrives without the noise of a star vehicle, which may explain why it has room for something increasingly rare: an actual idea. Director Shubha Sai Venkat builds the film around a medical premise and blends survival drama, suspense, action and a touch of romance without making the package feel like a committee meeting.
The teaser and trailer promised a darker, more unusual Telugu thriller, and the finished film largely honours that promise. The making is modest but purposeful, with sharp editing and attractive visuals giving the material a welcome sense of urgency. Shekar Chandra’s background score does much of the atmospheric heavy lifting, while the songs serve the film rather than stopping it for a compulsory music-video audition.
Kiku Yanamala leads with commitment, supported by Kashish Khan, Eeshwari Rao, Tanikella Bharani, Srikanth Bharat, Goparaju Ramana and Viva Raghava. The ensemble gives the drama weight, particularly when the film shifts gears in its latter stretch and allows suspense, twists and action to take over.
The direction occasionally wobbles, and the screenplay is not immune to the familiar genre bumps. But the film’s ambition is genuine, its performances are invested and its thriller energy is sustained well enough to justify the big-screen outing. In an industry fond of decorating thin ideas with expensive introductions, Kiku Chiranjeevi remembers that cinema can simply begin with a story worth following.
The industry may now investigate whether audiences can survive a film without a star surname.
