388 acres alleged, 30 days promised, records still missing

Revenue officials have begun examining land records and conducting field work around Erravelli in Siddipet after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed an inquiry into land associated with former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s farmhouse. The Congress government says the inquiry should be completed within 30 days — a deadline now doing more work in public than the actual records.

Reddy told the Assembly on September 16 that, “as per the information”, 388 acres of government land formed part of a roughly 700-acre property associated with KCR’s farmhouse. He said the land would be recovered if illegal occupation was proved. That last condition matters: no public survey report, certified land record, map, government order or completed inquiry confirming the allegation has been located.

Reports say officials examined files at the Markook tahsildar’s office and conducted field work around survey number 325. One report referred to about 385 acres under examination, while the Chief Minister’s figure was 388 acres. Whether those numbers describe the same land remains unclear. The Congress government has yet to publish the documents that would settle it.
