An Unemployed JAC representative announced a proposed Assembly protest on September 7 over Telangana’s police recruitment rules, according to a September 4 press conference report. The group demanded an upper age limit of 38 for SI and constable recruitment, relaxed selection rules, restoration of an agency quota for tribal-area candidates, and old commissionerate rules for Hyderabad and Rangareddy candidates.
The larger dispute is real. The Telangana Police Recruitment Board has notified 7,437 vacancies for the 2026 process: 7,112 constable or equivalent posts and 275 SI or equivalent posts, among others. Protest leaders, however, claim the Police department has about 19,000 vacancies and say only 7,437 posts were notified. The official material reviewed confirms the notification figure, not the wider vacancy claim.
The Congress government’s own press release says officials were directed to conduct recruitment for the 7,437 posts transparently. It does not address the age-limit, agency-quota, commissionerate or GO 46 demands. The September 7 action, its format and whether permission was sought remain unconfirmed. The government has not publicly answered those specific demands. For now, the jobs are notified; the explanations are still pending.
