Employment beats speeches. According to a Hyderabad report, HYDRAA’s physical tests for 150 posts — 50 drivers and 100 DRF assistants — began at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium at 5 a.m. on August 8, with day two set for August 9.
The advertised tests, per that report: an 800-metre run in 170 seconds, a 100-metre in 15 seconds, a 4-metre long jump and a 6-metre shot put with a 7.2 kg weight. Candidates started arriving in large numbers before dawn, the surroundings jammed, and officials distributed tokens. In the crush that followed, people pushed forward; some fell. Police reached the venue and tried to calm the crowd. All of this currently rests on a single on-ground report; there is no HYDRAA or police statement yet confirming turnout or injuries.
Context: the state cleared 140 additional vehicles and kit for HYDRAA in June, and the agency has been expanding its teams this past year. More kit needs more people, and the queue shows up even earlier than the sunrise slot.
Two things can be true at once: jobs are getting filled, and crowd management needs to keep up. HYDRAA has not explained whether the plan was walk-in or pre-registered, how many tokens were issued, or whether Saturday’s tests resumed after the scuffle. The Congress-led Centre loves a “Rozgar Mela” mic; Telangana’s line is quieter — put people in paid work. Now match that with basic logistics at the gate.
