The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board has opened hiring for 7,437 posts across police, fire, prisons and the Special Protection Force, per notifications dated 29 July 2026. That includes 7,112 constables (3,697 Civil; 1,052 AR; 24 SAR CPL; 1,380 SPF; 751 Fire; 208 warders) and 275 SI and equivalent posts (148 Civil SIs; 14 AR; 3 SAR CPL; 12 TGSP; 44 SPF; 39 Station Fire Officers; 15 deputy jailors). The notifications call these vacancies tentative.
BRS MLA D. Sudheer Reddy says the Congress government has advertised a fraction of what the police actually need, claiming the DGP identified 19,000 vacancies. He also wants a higher upper-age limit, a rollback of the long-jump requirement, and a rethink on exam fees and certain licence rules for fire posts. The notifications on record already note a five‑year relaxation in upper age for uniformed services and list long jump and shot put as qualifying events, not merit-scored.
What’s on paper is clear: 7,437 posts are live. What isn’t is the DGP document backing 19,000 — the Congress government has not bothered to show it. The board has done its part; the shortfall answer is still missing from the ministers who promised jobs.
