An order has been issued to disburse ₹813 crore in land-acquisition compensation.
Telangana Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has ordered officials to disburse ₹813 crore in land-acquisition compensation reportedly lying undisbursed with government field offices. The order was issued during a September 21 review with district collectors and senior officials. The file has moved. The money, so far as the available record shows, has not.
A report on the review said ₹2,504 crore had been released for land acquisition and rehabilitation since April 1, while ₹813 crore remained undisbursed — ₹502 crore with land-acquisition officers and ₹311 crore with collectors. Uttam said that if the money had been released, it must reach land-losing farmers; if it could not be disbursed for a genuine reason, officials should explain and return it rather than keep it idle. Two reports carried the direction, but no government ledger or district-wise payment statement was available to confirm that farmers had received the amount.
The minister also reportedly said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had earmarked ₹6,000 crore in 2026 for irrigation-related land acquisition, rehabilitation, resettlement and forest clearances. No sanction order, budget-head details, release record or project-wise allocation was found. For now, ₹813 crore is an instruction awaiting proof of delivery, while ₹6,000 crore remains an assurance awaiting paperwork.
