Field techs say 15 months unpaid; protest lands at Gandhi Bhavan asking for jobs back and salaries cleared. The Congress government in Telangana hasn’t bothered to explain why the people digitising land for the state are waiting for their own dues.

Bhu Bharathi field technical staff protested at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, August 4, saying their services were being cut and salaries had been pending for 15 months. They squatted on the steps and raised slogans, asking for renewal of services and job security. According to the protest coverage, they also sought payment of arrears and withdrawal of a decision they say affects hundreds of staff.
A June 26 report had already recorded their claim that payments stopped from March 2025, after earlier dues through February 2025 were cleared. That report counted 672 operators statewide and put estimated arrears around Rs 17 crore, while Tuesday’s protest messaging referred to 636 employees needing renewal — a gap the government has not clarified on the record. The state’s own Bhu Bharathi portal confirms the project sits under the Revenue Department and the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration; it does not publish anything about contracts, renewals or payroll.
These are workers who helped modernise land records now asking why the state’s promise stopped at the portal. The Congress government in Telangana has not bothered to set out who employs these staff, who owes their wages, or when the 15 months will be paid.
