Farmers in several Telangana districts have taken to substations and roads over alleged irregular agricultural power supply, low voltage and fluctuations. Reports document protests or blockades in Jogulamba Gadwal, Sangareddy, Wanaparthy, Mahabubabad, Narayanpet and Adilabad. The Congress government’s promise of uninterrupted power is meeting a less polished reality at the feeder level.
In Yellampet and surrounding villages in Mahabubabad, farmers said fluctuations were affecting pump sets. TGNPDCL assistant divisional engineer M. Srinivas said the department was providing 12 hours of continuous three-phase supply in Maripeda mandal and that the demand for 24 hours would be taken up with the chairman and managing director. In Makthal, official Naveen Kumar reportedly promised 12 hours of continuous agricultural power after farmers raised similar complaints.
The reports establish a cross-district protest pattern, not a statewide power-failure figure. The extent of crop or pump-set damage, actual outage duration and the technical cause remain unverified. The discoms have yet to publish the feeder-wise outage and voltage records that would settle the argument. Until then, farmers are asking for 24 hours and officials are offering half the answer.
