India have reached the men’s Asian Games final after beating Sri Lanka by 124 runs in a semi-final that was effectively over before the scoreboard had warmed up.
India made 169/7, with Ishan Kishan unbeaten on 80 from 46 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes. Sri Lanka were then bowled out for 45 in 9.4 overs. Jasprit Bumrah removed Sineth Jayawardena and Sohan de Livera in the opening over; Sri Lanka were 2/3 after 1.1 overs and 12/5 soon after. Six wickets fell inside the powerplay. Nuwanidu Fernando’s 15 was their top score.
India will play Pakistan for gold on October 3 in Nisshin, Japan. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will meet earlier that day for bronze. The final has been arranged; Sri Lanka’s chase was not.
