Telangana’s Chikitha Taniparthi lost her women’s compound individual quarterfinal 144–143 to Indonesia’s Nurisa Dian Ashrifah on Thursday, October 1, at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. One point decided it; the scoreboard did not offer a consolation prize.

Chikitha had already won two gold medals that day. With Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep, she beat China 238–234 in the women’s compound team event, a score that equalled the world record for a 24-arrow match, according to World Archery. She then partnered Sahil Rajesh Jadhav to beat South Korea in a shoot-off after a 157–157 tie in the mixed team event. The victory secured India two quota places for the compound mixed team event at Los Angeles 2028; it did not automatically award Olympic berths to either athlete.

Chikitha, listed in Archery Association of India and Khelo India records as a Telangana athlete, reached the quarterfinal after beating Chinese Taipei’s Chen Yi-Hsuan in a shoot-off. Her individual campaign ended narrowly. Her team campaign had already done the heavier lifting.
