Surveys cover a reported 1,242 acres in Vikarabad, while an earlier report put the reservoir requirement at 2,919 acres. The notification is still waiting for the paperwork to catch up.

Three oversized measuring tapes marked 1,242 acres, 2,919 acres and 1,250 acres measure the same proposed reservoir site in a Vikarabad field, beside an unopened notification file and survey papers.

Conflicting acreage figures remain ahead of the land-acquisition notification for the Lakshmidevipalli reservoir and tunnel works.

Farmers in Syedpally and Allapur, in Vikarabad district’s Parigi mandal, are facing a proposed land acquisition for the K.P. Lakshmidevipalli reservoir and tunnel works. The acreage, however, appears to have been given more than one official-sounding answer.

A September 15 report says surveys cover 854 acres for the reservoir and 83 acres for the tunnel in Syedpally, and 258 acres for the reservoir and 47 acres for the tunnel in Allapur — 1,242 acres in all, rounded to about 1,250. It says the Syedpally reservoir survey is still pending and the district revenue administration is preparing the acquisition notification after it is completed. The notification, therefore, has not yet arrived.

An earlier June 24 report said officials had identified about 2,919 acres for the balancing reservoir. Neither report provides the underlying survey proceedings, parcel schedule or map explaining the difference. The Telangana Irrigation Department confirms that Lakshmidevipalli is part of the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, designed to irrigate 10 lakh acres and supply drinking water to villages, Hyderabad and industrial areas. It does not confirm the village-wise acreage here.

The Congress government in Telangana has not publicly answered the acreage mismatch or published the compensation, rehabilitation and affected-household details in the material reviewed. For now, the project has a reservoir, surveys and at least two land totals. The notification is still looking for its final number.
