Railway win 4-1; Hyderabad hosts, paperwork trails

Railway Sports Promotion Board are reported to have beaten All India Police Sports Control Board 4-1 in the final of the 6th Hockey India Senior Men Inter-Department National Championship 2026 in Hyderabad on September 14.

The tournament was held at the Gachibowli Hockey Complex from September 4, with 20 departmental teams participating, according to Hockey India. Its official pre-final update confirmed Railway and Police as the finalists after Railway beat Petroleum Sports Promotion Board 2-1 and Police beat the Comptroller & Auditor General of India 1-0 in the semifinals.

The final score and scorers were reported by Telangana Today, which named Atul Deep, Rohit Rohit and Amandeep Lakra for Railway, and Shubham for Police. The report contradicts itself on the goal timings, however, and Hockey India has not published a final scoresheet in the material available. Hyderabad got the tournament. The paperwork is still taking the scenic route.
