Rashmika’s Subbulakshmi biopic gets first clap

Geetha Arts has launched *MS – A Legacy On Screen* in Chennai, with Rashmika Mandanna attached to play M.S. Subbulakshmi. The film has a title, a first shot and a ceremonial clap; the release plan is still waiting backstage.

Geetha Arts has formally launched MS – A Legacy On Screen, its biopic on Carnatic vocalist M.S. Subbulakshmi, with Rashmika Mandanna attached to play the singer. The launch took place at The Music Academy in Chennai on September 16, the singer’s 110th birth anniversary. Kamal Haasan gave the ceremonial first clap for a shot featuring Rashmika, according to launch coverage. [1]

Gowtam Tinnanuri is directing and Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music. Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh and Bunny Vas are associated with the production through Geetha Arts, Rockline Entertainment and Bunny Vas Works. Rashmika said she would give her “complete dedication” to the role, while Kamal described Subbulakshmi as a musical empress who united India, especially South India. [1][2]

The makers have announced the film, its lead actor, director and composer. They have not publicly disclosed a release date, production schedule, language plan, distribution format or whether Rashmika will record vocals. The ceremonial clap has arrived. The timetable has not.
