HYDRAA teams cleared blocked drains, removed obstructions and used pumps in parts of Secunderabad after heavy rain waterlogged roads and low-lying areas on Sunday night, according to reports citing the agency and its official communication.
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency inspected Begumpet, Chikoti Gardens, Bible House, Oliphanta Bridge, Alugadda Bavi Bridge and Lalaguda on Monday, September 14. Varla Papayya, identified as HYDRAA’s Additional Director, reviewed the response. The agency also coordinated with irrigation officials to open Hussain Sagar gates. According to a press release cited in one report, DRF teams removed garbage blocking water flow and deployed pumps, with no water remaining stagnant by 8 am.
HYDRAA’s official website identifies its Disaster Management Wing and Disaster Response Force as responsible for flood and emergency response. The reports do not establish rainfall totals, the number of personnel or pumps deployed, or whether the operation was anything more than an emergency response. For once, the civic machinery met the weather before issuing a slogan about it.
