Telugu cinema crosses America, one listing at a time
US theatre listings confirm diaspora access for four Telugu-language releases. They do not, inconveniently, confirm a grand nationwide rollout.
US exhibitor listings confirm selected screenings for four Telugu-language releases.
Telugu cinema has reached US screens this week, with Maremma, Mandaadi, Sardar 2 and EPIC – First Semester listed by American exhibitors with English subtitles.
Cinemark and AMC list Maremma for September 10, while Harkins lists Mandaadi as “Telugu, subtitled” from the same date. Cinemark listings show Telugu-subtitled screenings of Sardar 2 in Plano, Dayton, Pflugerville and Bellevue. EPIC – First Semester is listed by AMC and Cinemark from September 11, including screenings in Texas, Indiana and West Virginia. The diaspora need not wait for a streaming announcement to find Telugu audio; it can check a cinema app instead.
The evidence establishes US screenings, not a nationwide release. No consulted source provides screen counts, ticket sales, attendance or collections. EPIC has been promoted as a “worldwide release”, but the exhibitor listings confirm only selected US access. Sardar 2 is listed as Telugu with English subtitles, not as a Telugu-dubbed film. The grand rollout, for now, remains larger in the marketing than in the paperwork.
