Toxic’s US Telugu lead is a claim — and a flex

Trade tracking says Telugu topped Yash’s Toxic US premiere bookings. Audited data? Not published. Telugu diaspora still showed up first.

In a US multiplex lobby, a crowded Telugu-labelled ticket pipe fills a box office with tickets while an empty audit folder spills blank papers beside a restrained victory trophy.

Telugu leads the reported US advance-booking tracker; the underlying dataset remains unpublished.

Koimoi, citing the Venky Box Office tracker, reported $420,000 in US premiere advance sales for Yash’s Toxic — 20,000 tickets across 942 shows in 388 locations — with the Telugu version “almost 14,000 tickets” and leading the language split. North America was pegged at $470,000 total. The film opened worldwide on August 26, with US premieres the previous day per time zone. (All figures per the trade report; no public theatre-level dataset was provided.)

For Telangana’s diaspora, the point is simple: when a pan-India star steps out, Telugu audiences abroad are first to lock seats. The tracker-backed direction — Telugu ahead of Kannada and Hindi in the US — matches earlier snapshots that also had Telugu on top at an earlier timestamp. The specific “almost 14K” Telugu count, though, remains an unaudited claim.

What the trade post does not show: the theatre list, price bands, blocked-seat policy, simultaneous booking windows for all languages, or a final audited wrap. So we’ll take the win — Telugu on top in the tracker — and skip the victory lap the numbers can’t vouch for. Delhi’s big parties love grand claims with no paperwork; the diaspora doesn’t need that habit to celebrate a real lead.
