1.33 lakh idols, zero delivery tally
HMDA says it is distributing eco-friendly Ganesh idols across Hyderabad through September 13. The authority has not published a stock or distribution count.
HMDA announced 1.33 lakh eco-friendly idols at 34 Hyderabad locations, but has not published stock or distribution figures.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority says it has arranged free distribution of 1.33 lakh eco-friendly Ganesh idols at 34 Hyderabad locations from September 9 to 13, 2026. The reported plan includes 80,000 eight-inch idols and 53,000 one-foot idols for the public and NGOs, with the stated aim of reducing plaster-of-Paris and plastic use. (Telangana Today)
The announcement has been repeated by multiple reports, but HMDA’s original 2026 press release was not available on its website. Nor has the authority published procurement details, location-wise allocations, stock records or the number distributed by September 12. One published location list names 31 fixed points and separately mentions mobile sites, leaving the precise meaning of “34 locations” unclear. (Trinethra; HMDA’s older 2022 press note)
HMDA has listed Executive Engineer V. Srinuvas and Deputy Executive Engineer J. Ganesh as public contacts. The campaign may be useful; the delivery record is still waiting for its own idol immersion.
