Ration wheat scandal? The records are still missing
A report alleges Hyderabad ration wheat was diverted and digitally marked as distributed. The official systems reviewed do not establish that claim.

A report has alleged that ration wheat meant for Hyderabad beneficiaries was diverted to the black market, with dealers allegedly recording distribution in digital systems even when beneficiaries received nothing. It cites prices of ₹30–40 per kg, says only 10% of shops distributed wheat over three months, and estimates unlawful earnings of ₹24.66 crore. Those are allegations from the report, not established findings. One beneficiary, Abdul Khadar, is quoted saying his online record showed wheat issued although a dealer told him it had not arrived. The official record currently confirms only that Telangana uses e-PDS and ePoS systems to monitor fair-price-shop distribution. The state supply-chain dashboard showed 2,903.699 tonnes of wheat received and 2,906.677 tonnes distributed statewide in September, across 17,352 shops; it does not verify the Hyderabad-specific figures or the alleged diversion. There is also a small arithmetic problem wearing a large headline. Ninety per cent of the reported 6,166.850 tonnes at ₹40 per kg comes to about ₹22.20 crore, not ₹24.66 crore. The report also refers to October allocations despite being published on September 11. The department has not publicly supplied the shop-level records, inspection findings or enforcement action needed to settle the allegation. For now, the scandal is reported; the evidence remains on ration.
