Telangana’s Civil Supplies Department says fair-price shops distributed 6,16,806.40 metric tonnes of fortified rice under the August–October advance quota by September 5. It reported this as 95.13% of a 6,48,076.467-metric-tonne allocation.

The department’s own published quantities calculate to 95.17%, not 95.13%. That is a small gap, but arithmetic has not yet joined the political class in treating precision as optional. The department’s underlying distribution statement, the formula behind 95.13% and the order extending the deadline to September 5 were not available in the material reviewed.

The report also attributes to the department figures of 99,30,003 cardholders and 2,95,05,303 transactions, along with supplies for school meals, welfare hostels and Anganwadi centres. Those figures remain departmental claims. The available record does not establish whether the tonnage means rice collected by households, stock issued to fair-price shops or e-POS transactions recorded. Until the department publishes the working, 95.13% is a claim—with 95.17% sitting in the calculator.
