Kothagudem loses buses; Khammam gets the detour
Passengers and Left leaders say direct TGRTC services from four Bhadradri Kothagudem towns to Hyderabad were withdrawn. TGRTC’s explanation and current timetable remain unpublished.
Passengers from four Bhadradri Kothagudem towns are reportedly changing buses at Khammam for Hyderabad.
Direct TGRTC services to Hyderabad from Kothagudem, Manuguru, Yellandu and Bhadrachalam have reportedly been withdrawn, leaving some passengers to change buses at Khammam. The complaint was raised by passengers, Left leaders and RTC union representatives, according to a report published on October 1.
CPI(M) state committee member A.J. Ramesh and CPI Manuguru town secretary Durgayala Sudhakar demanded restoration of the services. A separate report also recorded Ramesh leading a protest outside the Kothagudem bus stand on September 28. An RTC union representative said the issue had been taken to Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, who was yet to respond, according to the report.
The exact services affected, their cancellation dates, the reason for the withdrawals and the current timetable are not available in the material reviewed. TGRTC’s official explanation is missing too. The district directory lists the relevant depot managers and Khammam regional manager, so the administrative chain is not exactly a mystery. The buses, however, remain one.
