Officials told Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on August 31 that detailed project reports for 17 railway projects, covering 2,023 km and estimated at ₹50,870 crore, had been submitted to the Railway Board. The claim was made at a review meeting with South Central Railway general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava and senior state officials.
The meeting covered land acquisition, approvals, underpasses, overbridges, approach roads, line doubling and public transport links to Charlapalli station. Jaju directed state departments and district collectors to coordinate with South Central Railway and conduct joint inspections.
That is the announcement. The paperwork remains elsewhere, apparently. No public project-wise list, cost breakdown, submission reference, Railway Board status, funding plan or completion timeline was available in the material reviewed. The Railway Board and Ministry of Railways have not publicly stated whether the 17 DPRs were examined, approved, returned or rejected.
Separate proposals for MMTS expansion, terminals near the ORR and RRR, Future City connectivity, possible bullet-train corridors and PM Gati Shakti funding were also discussed. The reports do not establish whether these are part of the ₹50,870 crore estimate.
For now, ₹50,870 crore is an officials’ estimate presented at a meeting—not sanctioned railway spending. The Centre’s Railway Board can begin by publishing the list it has reportedly received.
